I was pretty impressed by Image’s debut of Olympus, a new series by Nathan Edmondson and Christian Ward. The second issue hits stands on June 17. Below are 5 pages from that issue of the unique Greek mythology/action blend.

Benson is the actress who played Tara on the awesome Buffy TV series. She’s quite the all-round geek package really, as she’s also written comics and novels and directed films. She’ll be doing a signing for her new book at Challenger’s Comics in Chicago. Press release below.

Amber Benson signing to promote her new book “Death’s Daughter”
Challengers Comics + Conversation will be holding a signing and reading with renowned actress Amber Benson to promote her new novel “Death’s Daughter” on June 22, 2009 at 4:30pm. The award winning actress is best known for her role as “Tara” in the hit TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and she has recently been seen in multiple shows including Supernatural and Private Practice. “Death’s Daughter” ( ISBN-9780441016945) is available through bookstores nationwide and can be purchased at the event at Challengers Comics + Conversation, 1845 N. Western #2R, Chicago IL 60647. A Limited edition “Death’s Daughter” art print will be on hand for purchase as well as other Benson written graphic novels.
To rev up the festivities, Challengers is holding a special session of their Chattingers Book Club with Amber to discuss her book. A drawing will be held to determine 20 people selected to attend the private meeting with Ms. Benson after the signing. To be eligible, you must purchase a copy of Death’s Daughter from Challengers before June 22, 2009 and of course read it! All winners will be notified via before June 22, 2009. The Chattingers Book Club is a monthly occurrence and all comic book fans are invited to attend the regular sessions.
