Speaking of Marvel news:
I’m assuming you’ve seen these? Iron Man and Wolverine anime by Madhouse (same studio which did other action films/series like Ninja Scroll, Highlander:Search for Vengeance, Batman Gotham Knight, Trigun, Patlabor, and like a bazillion others…)

The wolverine one is really weird. But you might like the Iron Man one. I dunno, i’m not really digging either of them. I’ve seen Madhouse do some amazing stuff, but these look pretty weak.
I knew of that, but hadn’t seen the trailers, so thanks for the link. Mmm..I wasn’t a fan of Gotham Knight and these look tailor made for non-fanboys in the East. They don’t seem anything too special, but at least Marvel are trying to reach a new audience.
I’m impressed how many of these projects Marvel have going. They seem lighter on their toes than DC, which is great because they can test which projects are popular and which aren’t.
Speaking of, a clarification on the footage here by Warren Ellis who is the head writer for both projects:
“This is the test animation for the [IRON MAN and WOLVERINE] anime series I’m writing, produced for the south east Asian market. Note test animation: it’s intended to show off the style of the piece only. Nothing in here reflects the actual content, just the design and the aesthetic and the animation. ”
[on Iron Man] “The only character in this piece that is in the actual series is Iron Man himself, okay?”
[on Wolverine] “The story itself will be loosely based on the WOLVERINE miniseries by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller from the early 1980s. This animation was directed by the legendary Rintaro, I believe.”
Which explains the weird villains etc. So the end product may look nothing like this.
