Cap’s Covered

There’s a fair amount of hype about the return of Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America this week. In Captain America Reborn #1, writer Ed Brubaker and artist Bryan Hitch (The Ultimates) present Rogers’ return as classic enemy Red Skull makes nefarious plans. The covers of the first issue are truly striking, as you can see below, with covers by Bryan Hitch, Joe Quesada, Alex Ross and John Cassaday.

  1. Morning Kris.

Picked this one up last night…why does the Cap in this comic look like the rendition in the ” Ultimates Universe?” Are we going to bring the Steve Rogers of the Ultimates Universe into that ” Other ” Marvelverse?”

    • Hey Lew
That’s interesting. It’s probably just the choice of the artist, as even though the Ultimate line has effectively finished, that version of Cap is still running around in August’s Ultimate Comics: Avengers #1.

  2. Well, as I said in my first two Videocast, and as you and I well know, Dead isn’t always Dead in comics…it’s more a matter of just how interesting the ” Bring them back from the Dead ” premise is that the writers ask us to believe..and I do agree that it could be just the artist’s take in al this…but there was a suspicious few words that Steve Rogers spoke on the last page…if you know what l’m referring to…I don’t want to say too much here as I don’t want this to be viewed as a ” spoiler “…

    • Too true. By the way – good job with your Videocasts mate and the new features on your blog. Great work!
